
The AccuBase A1c Test Kit is considered a leader in hemoglobin A1c testing including: detection of abnormal hemoglobin variants (such as Hb S, C and Fetal hemoglobin). DTI developed the first FDA approved finger-stick (capillary) A1c collection test kit in 1998. In 2002 the AccuBase A1c kit was FDA approved for OTC use in 2002. In addition to being a leading company in A1c testing at-home, the AccuBase A1c Test Kit (HPLC-IE technology) kit has and is currently supporting major clinical trials. Our CLIA laboratory continues to support over a dozen major Universities (specific references upon request) in areas of studies for diabetes, pre-diabetes, clinical out comes, research and behavioral neuroscience. Our Laboratory has developed and published a series of diabetes education titles, in an effort to improve the quality of clinical care and quality of life for individuals with all forms of diabetes. Plans are to update education materials on a regular basis.

Prediabetes criteria
• Elevated A1c level of more than 5.6% or lower than 4.3%
• Obesity: Overweight (overweight is typically associated with Type 2 DM).
Approximately 89% of newly diagnosed people with Typ2 2 are at least 20% overweight
• Weight loss (regardless of food intake (may be associated with Type 1 DM).
• Familiar history of diabetes (heredity)
• Low blood pressure while standing (orthostatic hypertension)
• Extreme Thirst (polydipsia)
• Insomnia
• Large babies
• Impotence
• Snoring
• High blood pressure (cardiovascular disease)
• Sores and/or wounds that heal slowly
• Frequent skin, gum, vaginal or urinary infections
• Numbness or pain in legs, hands, feet
• Muscle cramping (claudication)
• Recent immunizations (especially in young children)
• Severe Itching (pruritus)
• Bladder disturbance
• Vulvovaginitis
• Nocturnal diarrhea
• Drowsiness
• Nausea
• Irritability (mood change)
• Insatiable Hunger (caused by the body’s cannibalization of its own protein stores) called polyphagia.
• Blurred vision (changes in acuity)

• Age: Over 35 years of age (approximately 80 % of newly diagnosed Type 2 cases are over 35)
